You should look at the elements that you want to change using the Internet Explorer Developer Tools or Firebug. If you try to look at the CSS first, you're not going to be able to figure out what you need to alter very easily.

BTW, don't ever edit the out of the box CSS files. Instead create your own CSS file with the overrides you'd like to apply to the default styling.
